Software Testing: Development Testing (Section 8.1)
Development Testing is an essential phase in software development where developers systematically test individual software components, units, or modules to identify and fix defects. It aims to ensure that each component works as expected and that the system functions correctly when these components are integrated. Development testing includes unit testing, integration testing, and component testing.
Software Testing: Test-Driven Development (Section 8.2)
Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a software development approach that emphasizes writing tests before writing code. Developers create automated test cases that define the expected behavior of a component or feature. Then, they implement code to make the tests pass. TDD promotes code quality, rapid feedback, and the creation of well-tested software.
Software Testing: Release Testing (Section 8.3)
Release Testing is conducted when a software version is nearing completion and is ready for deployment to users or customers. It involves comprehensive testing to ensure that the software meets its requirements, is stable, and is free of critical defects. Release testing may include functional testing, performance testing, and compatibility testing across different platforms.
Software Testing: User Testing (Section 8.4)
User Testing involves real end-users or stakeholders testing the software to evaluate its usability, user experience, and alignment with their needs. It provides valuable feedback on how the software performs in real-world scenarios. User testing helps identify user-centric issues and improvements needed to enhance the software's usability and effectiveness.
Test Automation
Test Automation is the process of using automated testing tools and scripts to perform tests on software applications. Automated tests can execute repetitive and complex test scenarios faster and more consistently than manual testing. Automation is commonly used in regression testing, functional testing, and performance testing to improve efficiency and accuracy.
